Shrewsbury Church

gore_logoAs many of you know, the Shrewsbury Church has slowly been destroyed over the last few years by gangs of teenagers in search of ghosts.  Unfortunately, everyone has been at a loss for what to do to save the old building and things have stood on hold for a long time now.
Fed up with this, I decided to organise a repair day for this past Saturday and thanks to the volunteered time of my friends we made a really big difference.  And judging by the reaction of the dozens of people that passed by during our work, I think it was appreciated by all.  I’ll let you judge by the before and after pictures.

Rev. Peter Prosser

E-mail Print PDF

It is with great pleasure that we can tell you that the Rev. Peter Prosser has been appointed as Priest-in-Charge of the Parish of the Lower Laurentians.  Peter is well-known to us as he was the priest here some 25 years ago, and he and his wife Frieda have  maintained a cottage on Lake Louisa ever since.  In the intervening years he has been a Professor and a Parish Priest; he retired a couple of years ago and returned full time to Argenteuil. Peter is bilingual and focussed on a pastoral ministry of preaching (as a form of teaching) and visiting.

To start Lent off on the right foot, Father Peter will lead a service of Holy Communion on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, at St Aidan`s Church in Louisa at 7pm. There will be meetings at the churches in the parish throughout Lent, starting at the end of February and continuing until Easter at the beginning of April.

Mission Statement

We, of the Parish of the Lower Laurentians, wish to prayerfully follow the footsteps of our Lord and Saviour, taking steps slowly and carefully as we grow together as a parish of four congregations.

We want to be inclusive and welcoming of all who enter our doors and to meet our community members where they are.

We want to be an outreaching parish, showing concern for and sharing the good news with our neighbours both near and far.

We want to develop an uplifting, spiritual parish, with the individual growth of each congregation and a strong parish ministry sharing the many  talents of all of its members.

We want to be prepared for change, open to new ideas, and ready to prayerfully answer God’s call to us.

We offer this unto our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and ask that His will be done through all our actions and decisions.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same spirit; different kinds of service, but the same Lord; different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all people.”
